The Senior Animation Production Accountant oversees the financial management of Flying Bark LA’s animation productions, providing strategic oversight across multiple projects. This role is responsible for high-level budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning, while ensuring compliance with industry standards and internal financial policies.

About You

• 6+ years of experience in production accounting, ideally within animation, VFX, or CG production

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent experience; CPA strongly preferred

• Advanced proficiency in production accounting software and Microsoft Excel; experience with D365 a plus

• Deep understanding of the animation production pipeline, including department workflows, scheduling, and cost drivers

• Proven ability to manage multiple productions and priorities in a fast-paced studio environment

• Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with experience mentoring or managing others

• Demonstrated ability to identify financial risks, propose solutions, and guide productions to successful outcomes

Responsibilities

• Own and oversee production budgets across multiple animation projects, including complex budget scenarios and long-range forecasts

• Act as a primary financial partner to Producers, advising on department planning, crew strategies, and cost impacts throughout the production lifecycle

• Lead forecasting efforts, aligning crew plans, schedules, and overhead considerations with production goals

• Collaborate with the Financial Controller on company-wide overhead planning, financial modeling, and forecast updates

• Prepare and present monthly cost reports, variance analyses, and financial summaries for senior production and finance leadership

• Lead budgeting and bidding efforts for new projects, partnering with Producers to develop competitive, accurate client bids

• Oversee payroll-related financial tracking, including union compliance, rate structures, fringe calculations, and location-based cost considerations

• Provide oversight of vendor contracts, purchase orders, and invoice approvals to ensure alignment with approved budgets

• Monitor cash flow and payment schedules, proactively identifying and mitigating financial risks

• Lead tax credit tracking and reconciliation, ensuring compliance with government regulations and stakeholder agreements

• Support and lead internal and external audits, ensuring financial accuracy, transparency, and compliance

• Supervise, mentor, and support junior and mid-level production accountants, providing guidance on workflows, best practices, and professional development
